Mission Statement

NCBW advocates on behalf of women of color through national and local actions and strategic alliances that promote its national and international agendas on leadership development and on gender equity in health, education and economic development.

Aces and faces

June 24, 2011 proved to be a fun evening bringing the community together for a night of games, dancing, casual dining, highlighted by participation of celebrity guest.

June 2, 2011 Home Crisis Seminar was sponsored by NCBW and hosted by the Greater Sacramento Urban league, to discuss saving or purchasing a home, upside down mortgages, short sale, foreclosures, tax implications and how to repair or rebuild credit.

2011 scholarship receipients

NCBW’s Scholarship Reception was held on May 20, 2011 at the Sam Pannell Meadowview Community Center.  Six local high school students from the Sacramento area were honored for their outstanding academic achievement and community service.  The students being honored were Haile Canton, Adi Jackson, Reed Gibson, Aleea Turner, Connor Quinn, and Deborah Oyeyemi.  Each student shared his or her career goals and objectives, as well as, thanked the Coalition for the faith and trust they had placed in them.  The winner of the Maxine Phillips Award this year was Deborah Oyeyemi.

Thurgood

In partnership with HBO and Greater Sacramento Urban League, NCBW Hosted the HBO premier movie of Thurgood on February 21, 2011. This was a sold out event held at the Crest Theater downtown Sacramento. This event served as a tool to educate about our rich history, inspire future leaders, and acknowledge the accomplishments of our pioneers and trailblazers.
